WHAT IS THE IPN?
The IPN (International Preparedness Network -- formerly the Preparedness Network) is a New York City based not-for-profit NGO (Non Governmental Organization) that began as a F.E.M.A. civilian emergency preparedness managers program called the Preparedness Network, back in 1989. At the time, its specific mission was to train civilians to avoid, mitigate against, respond to and recover from natural, environmental, technological and civil disasters. Since then, its mission and agenda has expanded significantly.
The IPN now also:
...Monitors and reports critical environmental & public health and safety related issues to its members and the general public.
... Designs its own specialized emergency preparedness related equipment.
... Gathers and distributes vital intelligence to its members regarding developing geopolitical crises and potential terrorist threats.
In addition, the IPN now includes chapters in twelve states and twenty-two cities across America, and thirty-two more around the World. It has also created a special program called "Life-O.N.E." (One Nation Earth) that is designed to provide emergency preparedness related assistance to impoverished communities in developing nations.
